Artist Commentary

The association is delivering its herd to the stock pens at Osier. It is late fall, the traditional shipping time. The wagon will return to the main ranch along with a few cowboys who will winter there. One lucky man will accompany the "Rep" all the way to the stockyards in Denver. They will languish in the "luxury" of a long caboose and contemplate their expected adventures in the big city.

The rest of the unattached hands will drift down to warmer climes and probably "Ride the Grubline" or tend bar until it's time for the Spring gather. It was a good life... and now even the "Steam" is gone...

The locomotives are K-36 and they are double-headed for the steep grade to Osier.

"STOCK EXTRA AT OSIER" is limited to 850 signed by the artist and numbered lithographs with 85 artists proofs and 85 publishers proofs. It is printed on 100% archival pH neutral paper and only the highest quality, fade resistant inks were used in the reproduction. It has been personally inspected by the artist at the time of signature and all production plates have been destroyed after printing.
