Artist's Commentary

I really have three true loves besides my bride, Maryls...steam trains, quarter horses and my Blue Heeler Border Collie Cross..."DOC"...In the painting I combine all three but, mainly to portray my dog.

All the years of training go out the window when he starts to work. He gets so excited when he gets around cattle that he forgets the "purpose of the exercise." It has reached a point that those responsible for the various drives that I am involved in each year will flatly ask if I am going to bring my dog or simply ask me to leave him home. oh well, I love him anyway and everybody else loves him...especially when he stays away from the action.

In regards to the vintage steam engine, there are no words to express the feeling one derives from "riding the rails" pulled by one of these "chariots of fire". As a 1/2 inch scale buff, part of my studio is devoted to this recreation and all units are narrow gauge replicas. The layout allows me to create the scenes on canvas and with complete control of the situation without the inconvenience of leaving the studio.

"DOC" is limited to 850 signed by the artist and lithographs with 85 artist's and 85 publisher's proofs. It is printed on certified archival pH neutral paper with highest quality, fade resistant inks. Each lithograph has been personally inspected by the artist and all production plates have been destroyed after printing is complete.
